fragmentation of imagination

NIJINSKY.spineI have begun reading Nijinsky. Human beings are such beautiful, yet injured, creators. I’ve just now been reading  Secrets of Nijinsky. Just a few moments ago, I was watching the afternoon of a faun on YouTube, having no idea who Christian Comte was, or what he was up to; fascinating!

My study of Nijinsky began last night, just  before our Calgary book launch. A friend (and gifted dancer) lent me Romola Nijinsky’s book about her husband. I think I’ll purchase a copy.

My reading of Nijinsky has me in more books; Immanuel Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason and Augustine’s City of God are open.

Over the years, I’ve prayed for a lot of broken people. To be honest, I’ve prayed over a lot of people’s heads, their brains and minds. In the streets of many cities, I’ve met and listened to many mentally ill people, damaged wanderers, who seem deranged to most others. Quite often, I’ve heard the voice of God through these broken pilgrims.

A quote of Marie Curie hangs on the wall of our dining room, “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood.” I once quoted the line to a friend, who replied inquisitively, “But what if it can’t be understood?” Yes, well, choose your own adventure…

Joseph had been using an interpreter, so they didn’t know that Joseph was understanding every word. Joseph turned away from them and cried. When he was able to speak again, he took Simeon and had him tied up, making a prisoner of him while they all watched. (Genesis 42:23, The Message)

Marie's quote gets to the core of the levitical calling and duty of priests … and it can be argued that the 20th Century elevated scientists and doctors to a priest-like status. On the other hand, if a kingdom priest is doing their duty, their every need will be cared for by the God of heaven. Pierre's quote gets to the core of personalism, which cannot forget prayer as the centering point of work, and subsequent improvements.
