tour of thanks
Three weeks ago, I didn’t have an iPhone, a website for the manifesto, or a travel budget for a book tour!
Recently, a friend purchased me two tickets for U2 at BC Place on October 28 (thanks Paulo)… so Dar and I adventured across the mountain passes in our Jeep; where we purchased a 16GB iPhone 3GS in Vancouver, stayed with friends who treated us to an amazing time (thanks Kevin and Karla), enjoyed a larger than life front row experience (thanks Bono and Edge), and held Clairvaux Manifesto for the first time (thanks Friesens and UPS).
During that time, a friend who works IT in one of Canada’s oldest companies developed this dot com (thanks Rob).
From Vancouver, Dar drove back to Canmore with friends while I made my way to Vancouver Island to help a friend move into his handcrafted home in the forest (thanks Adam), chat about prayer and work in the city (thanks Bob), and dream about how intentional Christian community will grow on his 20+ acres of land (thanks Bernie).
Regarding travel budget: a friend gave me four buddy passes to fly with WestJet to promote the manifesto (thanks Geoff).
First stop: I flew to London, Ontario and stayed with my parents in St. Thomas for a couple days to be with my dad post-heart-surgery; he’s recovering nicely (thanks Mom and Dad). Sunday afternoon, I enjoyed dinner, lightsaber wrestling, and the Leafs game with my brothers kids (thanks Andy and Lois). Sunday night, I stayed with my sister (thanks Becky).
Sunday morning, my brother-in-law gave me a drive to Waterloo (thanks Pete). WMB Church introduced me and the manifesto (thanks Tim) at two morning services (thanks Karen). That afternoon, I spent time at Stanley Park Church with a whole cohort of my former youth there, and their growing families (thanks Phil and Elle). That night I had fellowship and prayer with wonderful friends (thanks Marv and Christine).
Monday, I had lunch with PR/Marketing and IT (thanks Tim and Rob). Monday night, I had a great time in Paris (thanks Rob and Sara). Tuesday morning, I visited the distributor of the manifesto across town (thanks Deb and Holly). From Paris, I drove to Hamilton to visit the publisher (thanks Christal). From Hamilton, I drove to Burlington to pray with a jounalist (thanks Lorna). From Burlington, I drove to Keswick to drive around the lake with a friend (thanks Dale).
Wednesday, I had two hours with another media/jounalist friend (thanks Shauna) and enjoyed lunch with her friends before flying to Halifax. Since arriving last night, I’ve enjoyed some wonderful hospitality (thanks Geoff and Carolyn).
Today, I started out with a radio interview with CJLU FM (thanks Jeff). I shared the manifesto with leaders over lunch at The Old Triangle Pub (thanks John, Bruce, Kathy, Paul and others). Tonight, I’ll be with a cohort of students and young professionals on Dalhousie University Campus (thanks Graeme and Diana).
From here, I’ll be flying to St. John’s (thanks Pete and Bethany) and Montreal (thanks Ryan and Berenice)… and eventually I’ll be home again on the 17th (thanks Darlene, Luke, Bree and Nate).
Special thanks to all my friends (and family)!
Thanks to you who has the heart and faith to forge ahead with all this. You bring life to people’s hearts, that’s why they all will do this for/with you.
